Shop For Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner

I researched vacuum cleaners for a couple of weeks before deciding on the Dyson DC25. It seems to garner much praise from independent reviewers and users alike. The reviews indicate that the Dyson has lots of power and is easy to use.

I received mine a couple of weeks ago. It IS easy to use, with the extending hose and the 'ball' for a pivot. The Dyson allows simple and convenient operation. In addition, there is no hint of dust coming from the exhaust.

I purchased the unit mainly to vacuum the carpets since we have a built-in system for the hardwoods.

I was disappointed with the amount of suction (actually, it's more precise to call it 'air-flow') from the unit. In my experience with other machines over the years, I have learned that the amount of dirt pulled from the carpet is directly proportional to the amount of air flowing through the machine. I own an old Kirby vacuum and it will literally lift the carpet up off the floor and draw air though the carpet, cleaning it thoroughly, even at the base. The Kirby, though, has a serious downside. It does not hold the dust in the unit like the Dyson will (it emits a fine dust from the exhaust), so it is retired.

The bottom line for me is, the Dyson appears to be of good quality and is easy to use. I believe, though, that it suffers somewhat from lack of air flow. The tradeoff for me is that, although the carpet is not getting as clean as I believe it could, the air that emits from the unit is not full of dust. I am not sure if there is a unit out there that is as easy to use as the Dyson, and that will clean the carpet as well as my old Kirby yet not fill the house with dust.
