Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner Top Quality

I always have two vacuums---one large Lux ($2400!) that I use weekly for thorough vacuuming and then a second light weight one that I use almost daily. For the last 10+ years I have had to replace the second vacuum almost yearly at a cost of $100-150

I have had my Dyson DC25 Ball for only a few weeks but so far I am very impressed. It is light, maneuverable and has great suction. I will wait to see if it lasts. I have two large shedding dogs and they are hard on vacuums. I am hoping the 5 year warranty will protect me.

I do wish the chord were longer, but so far that is my only criticism.

My last Lux (actually, that was when they were the original Electrolux) only lasted 10 years and then I was faced with an $800.00 repair bill. My new one is only a few years old and is supposed to last my lifetime. The fact is, however, that every year it gets harder to lug around that weight.

I am serously considering retiring the Lux and using the Dyson exclusively. First I will have to see how hard it is on Oriental carpets. With Orientals you are supposed to avoid carpet beaters, and I do not see a way to turn that off. The Dyson does not have the great number of brushes as the Lux, so maybe it will not be a problem.
